10 Best Things to Do in Samboan, Cebu

Samboan is in the southern portion of Cebu, on the other side of Oslob, just before Santander which is located at the southermost province of Cebu. The starting point in going there is to go to the South Bus Terminal where buses towards Samboan abound.

1. BATH AT KAWA BATH OF FANTASY LODGE

  • Description: Fantasy Lodge Cebu is located in Samboan, facing Negros Oriental. The place offers a peace between mountain and beach and will make your day an unforgettable one.
  • Location: KM142, Samboan, 6027 Cebu
  • How to Get There: Simply go to Cebu South Bus Terminal and look for buses bound for Samboan. Be sure to inform the conductor to drop you off at Fantasy Lodge.
  • Operation Hours:  6:00 AM – 9:00PM; Mon-Sun
  • Entrance Fees:  PHP 200.00 per head (waived when you use some of their services like eating in their restaurant and having a spa treatment)

2. FIND BONBON FALLS (HIDDEN FALLS)

  • Description: The Bonbon Falls is also called the Hidden Falls and/or Triple Drop Falls because of the three drops of the falls that are adjacent with each other and their thin water flows. The waterfalls is around 60 meters tall and the deepest part is around 6 feet.
  • Location: Brgy, Bonbon just near Brgy. Tangbo
  • How to Get There: Simply go to Cebu South Bus Terminal and look for buses bound for Samboan. Be sure to inform the conductor to drop you off at Samboan Proper. In Samboan town proper, hire a motorcycle (“habal-habal”) to visit the waterfalls.
  • Entrance Fees:  PHP 20.00 per head for environmental fee

3. RELAXATION AT ITS BEST AT AGUINID FALLS

  • Description: This is a very famous falls known for its 8 level adventure. The levels are further categorized into 2. The easy or beginner friendly levels of 1-5 and the advanced levels of 6-8. 
  • Location: Santander – Barili – Toledo Rd, Samboan, Cebu
  • How to Get There: Simply go to Cebu South Bus Terminal and look for buses bound for Samboan. Be sure to inform the conductor to drop you off at Samboan Proper. In Samboan town proper, hire a motorcycle (“habal-habal”) to visit the waterfalls.
  • Entrance Fees:  PHP 60.00 per head
  • TIPS: The adventure in Aguinid Falls may consume an hour or two of your time at most

4. CHILL AT PONONG LAKE

  • Description: Ponong Hidden Lake is not actually a lake, but a type of a closed lagoon. Its water is brackish. The local tourism in the area plans on introducing fishing activities for guests.
  • Location: Santander – Barili – Toledo Rd, Samboan, Cebu
  • How to Get There: Simply go to Cebu South Bus Terminal and look for buses bound for Samboan. Be sure to inform the conductor to drop you off at Samboan Proper. In Samboan town proper, hire a motorcycle (“habal-habal”) to visit the Lake.

5. UP YOUR STEPS AT JACOB’S LADDER

  • Description: Connecting the beach area with the Spanish Watch Tower is St. Jacob’s Ladder (Escala de Jacobe). It is a flight of 157 stone steps built in 1878, which leads to the old watchtower on a plateau 65 metres (213 ft) above the town. From here, one can get a view of the Tañon Strait.
  • Location: Santander – Barili – Toledo Rd, Samboan, Cebu
  • How to Get There: Simply go to Cebu South Bus Terminal and look for buses bound for Samboan. Be sure to inform the conductor to drop you off at Samboan Proper. The place is located near the parish.

6. SWIM AT DA-O FALLS

  • Description: Dao Falls is the highest waterfall in Samboan. You’ll be immersed in a jungle hike past canyon walls, bamboo railings and limestone paths to the beautiful main waterfall.
  • Location: Santander – Barili – Toledo Rd, Samboan, Cebu
  • How to Get There: Simply go to Cebu South Bus Terminal and look for buses bound for Samboan. Be sure to inform the conductor to drop you off at Samboan Proper. In Samboan town proper, hire a motorcycle (“habal-habal”) to visit the Falls.

7. TREK TO MT. BARTOLINA

  • Description: Bartolina Mountain is the highest peak in the south of Cebu where the panoramic view of north and south Bais Bay and the rest of Negros, Siquijor, and Bohol islands can be seen. Reach the peak for around 15 minutes.

  • Description: Beside the municipal building is Museo de Sambaoan, the town’s repository of its rich heritage and memorabilia.

9. LOVE DIVING? VISIT COLASE MARINE SANCTUARY

  • Description: The Sanctuary is managed by the municipality together with a fisherfolks organization. Samboan’s effort for nature’s protection is proven by this marine sanctuary’s existence for almost two decades already. You can visit the fish sanctuary or dive for a fee where you can experience the most preserved marine ecosystem where sharks often visit, dolphins play, whales often traverse and all kinds of fish visit the shallowest part of the foreshore unprovoked by man.

  • How to Get There: Simply go to Cebu South Bus Terminal and look for buses bound for Samboan. Be sure to inform the conductor to drop you off at Poblacion, Samboan. From there, hire a motorcycle to take you there.

10. FALL AT CANDAYVIC FALLS

  • Description: the name “Candayvic” is a play on “Kang Inday Marivic” which translates to “For Dear Marivic.”
  • Location: Brgy, Cañorong, Samboan Cebu
  • How to Get There: Simply go to Cebu South Bus Terminal and look for buses bound for Samboan. Be sure to inform the conductor to drop you off at Samboan. From there, hire a motorcycle to take you there.
