10 Things I LOVE to Try in SOUTH KOREA

10 Things I LOVE to Try in SOUTH KOREA

I have been meaning to do this for a long time, I mean write a blog about KOREA but did not have the brain to prioritize it. I have been busy with all my travels lately but co-vid 19 made me realize that this, right here, is an important talk that I would want my readers to know. I mean sharing a side of me that ever since I started blogging, I haven’t write/talk anything about because I did not have the courage.

I always wonder what it would be like to step in the concrete, breathe the air and just experience everything in the land of where my favorite girl group band lives. Yes! you have read that right. I have a precious precious fandom but we will just save that talk for another day. I already deviate my topic here a little. So, without further ado, let me start it with:

1. Locate Filming Sites of 2ne1’s Music Videos

Address: Dongdaemun Plaza, South Korea

This is in my top list to do. My brain does not say food but instead a place that has possibilities that brings so many memories that I only have seen thru their lenses. Actually, YG Building is what I would preferably go to but this has majorly shift since three members of 2ne1 had already left the building. I mean this in a literal way, no pun intended! (haha!)

I don’t exactly know the places yet but I will update this list once I have the locations.

Update: The parts in the music video of 2NE1’s Come Back Home has been shot in Dongdaemun Plaza. This is just according to me. haha!I hope I am right.

2. Eating different Street Foods

Address: Kung Saan Meron Food, Seoul, South Korea

Ever since I started knowing 2ne1 in a deeper level, I started seeing different must-try foods for me in korea. Just like that one time or must I say so many times I saw in their Music Video “Go Away” , CL, a member of the 2ne1, drank Soju. Soju is a rice wine. Well, we do have that in Philippines right now, right? Well, drinking that in the busy streets of Korea must have a different feels to it.

We also have authentic korean restaurant in the Philippines but korean food in korea must really have a different version of it. That’s just what I think. I also know that there’s a lot of food that is out there and it wants me to find and eat them all.

3. Ski at Korea’s largest Ski Resort “Yongpyong Ski Resort”

Address: Yeongdong-daero, Samseong 1(il)-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea

This is such a winter-y thing to do. My friends told me that if its my first time visiting South Korea then it is better if I schedule it on fall season because the environment looks pretty good and it is not that too hot. I also read somewhere that hot season in korea is really very hot but I really doubt that there’s a big difference compared here in the Philippines.

I always want to go ski-ing and experience that first drop of snow. I want to lay down and make that snow angel everyone does in the movies. I wanna make an ice ball and have a fight with family and friends. Good thing that South Korea is one plane away now from Cebu. This makes so much sense to me as per writing.

4. Explore the Shopping District in Seoul: Myeong-dong

Address: Area of 66, Eulji-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul (μ„œμšΈνŠΉλ³„μ‹œ 쀑ꡬ μ„μ§€λ‘œ 66 μΌλŒ€)

I have heard people ,who have visited korea, saying that beauty stores there often gives so many free products. Oooops! I just want to test what everyone says and who doesn’t want free products, right?

Anyway, the fashion of the korean people are iconic and I have always looked up to their styles. From top to bottom, no one can deny it. Or is it only me though? Nevertheless, this one got in on my top list.

5. Go Around Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village

Cosplay!

This what naturally goes on my mind when hearing or reading a word involving palaces. I already know that the palaces in Seoul offers an unforgettable experience to foreigners/tourists by giving them an option to try on the traditional korean costumes and explore the area. Why do I know that? Well, your eon-nie (a word in korean which means older sister though I am not that old HAH!), has so many friends and those friends told me that information.

The Gyeondbokgung Palace offers tourist to try on the Palace Bodyguard costumes while Bukchon Hanok Village offers tourist to wear hanbok (korean traditional dresses or the one that you see in ancient setting korean drama costumes). I know that this will give me a travel-back-to-history kind of feels that’s why its in my top spot.

6. Browse and Read Books at Starfield Library

Address: Yeongdong-daero, Samseong 1(il)-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea

I just saw this picture in a blogger that I looked up to on instagram and in an instant, I fell in love with it. You know, bloggers has its own way of making captivating audience in just one single photo. Also, I am book enthusiast so the nerdiest nerd in me shines.

On the other hand, I just saw an unfiltered picture of this library and I can say that it is pretty normal. But, it is pretty huge just like the library in Harry Potter.

7. Fun, Fun, Fun at Lotte World and Everland

Lotte World Address: 240, Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul (μ„œμšΈνŠΉλ³„μ‹œ μ†‘νŒŒκ΅¬ μ˜¬λ¦Όν”½λ‘œ 240)
Everland Address: Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.

Since 2009, I saw a picture of Sandara Park and Gong Minji (the fangirl in me goes blabbing again) visiting the Everland Park. Not that I just want to be there because of them, it is cause I am such a sucker for theme parks. I have been to Disneyland and Universal Studios and it does not fail to give me great happiness and satisfaction. I also know that this will give me those three letter word, FUN!

I also have a sweet tooth and Lotte World’s sugary treats are tasty and delicious. These spots will give me an easy fix. Yehey to us sweet treats lovers.

8. Attend a Kpop Concert

Address: Kung Babalik 2ne1, Seoul, South korea

If I tell you that I have attended a Kpop Concert in the Philippines, does this means that I can tick it off my list? While waiting for somebody’s reply, I will just write what I experience here in a summary and I will just save the longer discussion for another blog post.

I am or I was once a fangirl with fandom. I can totally see a huge difference when it comes to concerts done in Korea compared to other parts of the world. One is with the official merchandise. The other is the stage designs and decoration. The crowd itself if pretty much the same. But, it is also good to try attending concert with different crowds right? What do you think?

9. Chill at Cheonggyecheon Stream

Address: 1 Cheonggyecheon-ro, Seorin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Melaka, Malaysia has Malacca Straits. Singapore has Marina Bay. South Korea has Cheonggyecheon Stream.

That is just a comparison of attractions that I have visited that has restaurants near bodies of water. But the difference is that you can dip your feet in Cheonggyecheon Stream and this is a place good for walking tour with a local of course or just you and who your travelling with.

As what I have seen in the pictures, visiting this place anytime of the day is good too but I prefer to visit this one in the evening just because the lights add a great deal of romantic aura in that time of the day.

10. Namiseom Island

Address: 1, Namiseom-gil, Namsan-myeon, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do (강원도 μΆ˜μ²œμ‹œ 남산면 남이섬길 1)

The last but not the least of things I would love to try when I am in South Korea.

This is one of the places in South Korea that is often featured in Korean dramas and I get it. The place has a beautiful scenery and no one can actually deny it. It is also a must for first time travellers like me to visit this place during fall. Atleast, thats what they almost say.
