Mayong’s Ormoc
Address: Rizal Street, corner Lopez Jaena St, Ormoc, 6541 Leyte
Contact Number: 0919 580 4607 or 0917 792 0456
In January 1986, the Rodriguez brothers built a kiosk on the corner of Lopez Jaena and Rizal Sts. in Ormoc City and sold ngo-hiong, a deep-fried lumpia that is a favorite among the street-food lovers in Cebu City. They named their first venture into the food business after the oldest among them and with the catchiest name, Mayong.
Within a few years, they developed their own recipes for burgers and spaghetti that proved to be a hit among the locals and quickly gained a wider following. The brothers followed their initial success by setting up a snack house in the neighboring town of Baybay and to the Southern Region of Leyte and the Eastern side of Samar.
Why is it Famous?
This has been around since the ’80s and since there were no fast-food restaurants as big as this, so Ormocanons tried this one. I really believe that every Ormocanons have bitten on the burger at least once. I personally think that that is the reason though.
On the other hand, I personally and honestly like the hotdog in a bun named Mexicali though. It is the one food that I will always come back to when I visit this bakeshop/restaurant.
Menu
My favorite food is the mexicali but others really love their hamburger.
