Here’s 5 Things You Need To Know Before Buying Samsung Galaxy A12
Samsung launched its latest- entry-level phone last December 2020 — Galaxy A12 in the Philippines. The smartphone comes powered by an Octa processor and runs on the One UI. The device packs 4GB-6GB of RAM and has an internal storage of up to 128GB.
According to the company, the major highlight is its 48MP quad-camera set up, 6.5 HD+ Infinity-V display, and a massive 5000mAh battery. This review may give you an idea of why you can look at buying this device or, perhaps not. Here’s my review of the phone:
1. Samsung Galaxy A12: Display and Design
When it comes to design, this budget Samsung Galaxy A12 smartphone is good. The Galaxy A12 is made mostly out of plastic and has a matte finish. The smartphone is 8.9 millimeters thick and weighs 205 grams. It is 164 millimeters in height and 75.8 millimeters in width.
The phone is offered in three different color options. For the 6GB Ram, these include Black and Blue while the 4GB, includes Black, and White. The top part has a textured stripe design while the lower part has a very neat surface. The rear side of the phone a gradient design separated into two parts. Thanks to the gradient design, the phone offers a good grip and is less prone to scratches and fingerprints.
At the rear side of the device, the Galaxy A12 has a square quad-camera setup underneath it is the LED flash. Also, you will see Samsung’s logo. On the right side, the Galaxy A12 has volume buttons and a power button with a side fingerprint sensor — which worked fast while using it and I really love the side fingerprint sensor. The device houses a SIM card tray on the left edge. At the bottom edge, there’s a dedicated space for a USB Type-C charging port, 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone, and speaker.
Samsung Galaxy A12 has a 6.5-inch HD+ screen with 720×1600 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 20:9. It’s an LCD display and not an OLED one. It also features a Blue light filter to reduce eye strain.
Built into the phone’s hardware and software from the start, Samsung Knox protects your phone from the minute it’s turned on. Offering multi-layered security, it defends your most sensitive information from malware and malicious threats.
2. Samsung Galaxy A12: Performance
Samsung Galaxy A12 runs on the company’s own One UI Core. The custom operating system is based on Android 10. One UI Core helps you focus on what matters to you. You can opt you see Dark Mode for a comfortable experience in the dark, and with clear and intuitive visuals using your phone is like second nature.
When it comes to Gaming, I played Genshin Impact and I notice that I really need to use the smallest graphics possible to play the game with minimal lags. The 6GB ram won’t let me play my very loved game without lags. But playing it with Sims and Call of Duty: Mobile gives no lag. So, this phone can handle that kind of game.
When it comes to using app, it worked smoothly and is lag-free. I performed a daily basic task on this smartphone like switching between apps, using Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, Gmail, watching videos, streaming music, and found no problem. The overall experience was actually good.
It can support 4G LTE.
3. Samsung Galaxy A12: Battery
The smartphone’s 5,000mAh battery means aspiring content creators can stay powered for
hours on end. When the battery runs low, they can quickly get back to what they’re doing after
using the charger that has the 15W Fast Charging technology.
I played some light to heavy games on this smartphone for long hours and the device mildly heat up. The smartphone lasted for over a day on a single charge.
4. Samsung Galaxy A12: Camera
The Galaxy A12’s Quad Camera elevates mobile photography, headlined by its 48MP Main
Camera (See photo above). It is complemented by a 5MP Ultra-Wide lens that simulates human sight and offers a
The 123-degree angle of view, a 2MP Macro Camera to capture finer details, and a 2MP Depth
Camera to bring focus to the subject. Even the front camera is upgraded with its 8MP and
Live Focus features to capture that perfect selfie.
Get in close with the 2MP Macro Camera and discover details you may have missed otherwise. It applies a natural Bokeh effect to your pictures, allowing your subject to stand out from the background.
The 2MP Depth Camera lets you adjust the depth of field in your photos. With a simple touch, you
can easily fine-tune the background blur behind your subject for high-quality portrait shots that truly stand out.
I personally can use this in my travel and the shots are actually pretty decent. The bokeh is very useful and the wide lens are pretty handy too.
5. Samsung Galaxy A12 : Pricing and Colour Options
Budget smartphones have always been popular in the Philippines and major Chinese smartphone brands like Xiaomi and Realme are already doing well in this segment. However, Samsung is looking to give them a run for their money with its own launches in this space. Samsung has recently introduced its Galaxy A12 smartphone in the country. Galaxy A12 is available in three colors – Black, Blue, and White. The Galaxy A12 4GB + 128GB variant is priced at Php 7,999 SRP while 6GB + 128GB variant is priced at Php 9,990.00.
The Galaxy A12 6GB/128GB variant is also available via 0% interest for 6 months of Home Credit installment when purchased from February 5 to March 31. 1 In addition, those who will get the new Galaxy A12 from February 5 to 14 can enjoy a FREE 1-Year Subscription

MY OVERALL THOUGHTS
For those who have less budget and looking to buy this device, I think it’s a pretty sweet and good deal. The decent camera abilities, good battery life, side fingerprint sensor, 128GB ROM, Galaxy A12 really do make a case for Samsung.
For taking pictures to upload for Instagram, this is an A-Okay phone. A pretty decent camera and the internal storage is very useful too.
But for heavy gamers, I don’t suggest buying this device or else you will suffer from poor graphics just to play your games.
