I am so excited to share with you, my readers, the top 5 best restaurants or food places that should be in your list when visiting my dear hometown – Ormoc City.
For starters, our city is located in the western part of the province of Leyte and is now called the “City of Beautiful People.” It is a first-class city and the largest city in Leyte by land area. It is approximately 104 kilometers away from Tacloban City – the capital of Eastern Visayas.
The people of Ormoc are called Ormocanons. Ormocanons are predominantly Cebuano-speaking or Bisaya together with the whole western part of Leyte island.

1. Dine and Enjoy the View at Ormoc Herbs
- Location: Luna-Dolores Milagro Road, Ormoc City
- Opening Hours: 10:00AM – 9:00PM
This restaurant is at the top of my list as they provide top-tier foods. They recently added Korean kimchi stew to their menu. They also have Malaysian cuisine, American, Italian, and many more!

2. Great View. Great Food. SutuWaki
- Location: Sutuwaki, Larrazabal St, Ormoc, Leyte.
- Opening Hours: 10:00AM – 10:00PM
SuTuWaKi means Sugba (grill) Tuwa (broth) Kilaw (cooking in vinegar). These are the common ways of cooking Filipino dishes. The food is very delicious and the plating is well organized the invite you to devour it right after it is served in front of you.

3. Healthy Dishes at Lake Danao
- Location: Sutuwaki, Larrazabal St, Ormoc, Leyte.
- Opening Hours: 10:00AM – 4:00PM
Lake Danao is a guitar-shaped lake. It is the most popular tourist attraction in Ormoc. Food vendor awaits you at the lake. They sell “paluto” or “to cook” foods. It is actually cheap so you need not worry for the price.

4. Get some Asian Fusion at The Aviary

The restaurant is very classy, chic, and elegant. It gives off a very tantalizing vibe and aura. My favorite dish of all is their laksa and salt and pepper squid. I must say that the taste is very authentic and my love for soup is always quenched by the laksa!

My favorite dish of all is their Bibimbap and Kimchi Jigae. I must say that the taste is very authentic and my love for soup is always quenched by their Kimchi Jigae!

Tempura Haus is an all-around, authentic Japanese restaurant that’s got the look and feel of, well, Japan. It’s got the classics (ramen, donburis, and tempura) as well as a number of sushi dishes.
