Its advocacy is what distinguishes and fulfills Good Shepherd purchases. Good Shepherd has established a solid reputation for creating high-quality goods with a purpose. Baguio is proud of its thriving local food culture. Making the most of the abundant supplies, the residents devised a plethora of inventive methods to make cuisines and culinary items that exemplify the Cordillera area and nearby Ilocos region, the impact of which also pervades the city.

The Mirador Heritage and Eco-Spirituality Park, easily a highlight of our most recent trip, is a burgeoning tourist destination with a mix of indigenous and Japan-inspired activities.
Hiking routes crisscross this 5-hectare area, leading to several attractions such as the Rock Gardens, the Pandemic Healing Memorial, the La Storta Garden, the Ifugao Houses, and the Circular Seismic Chamber (closed when we visited). The landmark Mirador Peace Memorial, a red-painted torii gate atop a hill overlooking the city and the surrounding hills, is possibly the most popular. Many tourists come here to take pictures.

Aside from the park, Mirador Hill also harbors the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, Kapilya ni Hesus at Maria, Café Iñigo, and the Mirador Jesuit Villa Retreat House.

The Igorot Stone Kingdom, which opened to the public in the second half of 2021, is Baguio’s newest tourist destination. Certain areas are still under development because they are so new. The park displays the ideals of the Cordillera Region as well as both contemporary and traditional Igorot culture.

A contemporary castle and an antiquated stone wall stand in opposite directions and dominate the about 6,000 square meter territory. The contemporary castle, which is made of hollow blocks and cement, is engraved with paths that are interrupted by statues, picture ops, and viewing decks. It was completed with a food court that mostly served Filipino foods.

The stone wall, on the other hand, is reminiscent of the Igorot people’s rock-laying abilities found in the rice terraces. The Fertility Stone Tower, the Temple of Kabunyan, Bangan’s Dome, the Tower of Gatan, the Face in the Rock, and many more may be seen as you ascend.

Other attractions are the Igorot Gold Mine, the Wishing Well, and the Igorot Golden Bridge. Soon, the park will also have life-size statues of prominent Igorots.

The Dominican Hill Retreat House, officially known as the Diplomat Hotel, is a 17-hectare property perched atop the Dominican Hill. It was initially erected in the early part of the twentieth century as a retreat home for Dominican priests and nuns until World War II, when the Japanese took possession and transformed it into a military garrison and war jail.

The Diplomat Hotel reopened and functioned throughout the 1970s and 1980s after extensive renovations and refurbishing. Given its history, particularly the tragedies of WWII, it has garnered popularity for paranormal phenomena, frequently ranking among the Philippines’ most haunted locations.

The municipal government of Baguio has proclaimed the entire hill area a history and historical landmark, and it has been renamed Dominican Heritage Hill and Nature Park. The property is being renovated and developed for tourism, and it is available for photoshoots, filming, wedding receptions, and other events and gatherings.
