Camotes Islands is a group of islands in the Camotes Sea, Philippines. The combined area is 236.36 kilometers (146.87 mi). The island group is located east of Cebu Island, southwest of Leyte Island, and north of Bohol Island. It is 34 nautical miles (63 km; 39 mi) from Cebu City and is part of Cebu. Sometimes known as the “Lost Horizon of the south”, within recent years Camotes has seen increased visitors and tourism and a growing expatriate community. How to Get to Poro, Camotes

OPTION 1 (BY VAN/BUS)

Entry Point is in ORMOC PORT.

CHECK FAST CRAFT SCHEDULE & FARE HERE

  • From the port, walk to Ormoc City Terminal near the Ormoc Public Market/2go Express ticketing.
  • Then, ride a tricycle going to PUNTA PORT. Be sure to inform the driver that you will hop off at PUNTA PORT for Camotes. Fare is PHP 10.00 – PHP 20.00. Travel time is about 8 minutes.
  • At Punta Port, ride the KGC Ferry bound to Poro, Camotes. The fare is about PHP 300.00. Travel Time is about 1hr 50mins.
  • At Camotes, hail a motorcycle, tricycle, or just rent a ride for transportation to your destination.

OPTION 2 (BY BOAT W/ BUS/VAN)

Entry Point is in CEBU PIER 4 via HILONGOS.

CHECK FAST CRAFT SCHEDULE & FARE HERE

  • From Pier 4, ride the Slow Boats (Roble Shipping Lines or Gabisan Lines) & Fast Boat (MV Superjoy) bound for Hilongos. Fare is about PHP 310.00 ( SGD$ 6.89, US$ 6.2, € 5.17) – PHP 2,000.00 ( SGD$ 44.45, US$ 40, € 33.33) for Slow Boats and PHP 550.00 ( SGD$ 12.23, US$ 11, € 9.17) for Fast Boats/Crafts. Travel Time is about 5-6 hours for the slow boats and 2-3 hours for the fast boat.
  • Then walk or ride a motorcycle to Hilongos Public Terminal.
  • At the Market, ride a bus/van to Ormoc City. Travel Time is about 2 hours.
  • At Ormoc City Terminal, walk towards Ormoc Public Market/2go Express ticketing.
  • Then, ride a tricycle going to PUNTA PORT. Be sure to inform the driver that you will hop off at PUNTA PORT for Camotes. Fare is PHP 10.00 – PHP 20.00. Travel time is about 8 minutes.

Fare is about PHP 310.00 ( SGD$ 6.89, US$ 6.2, € 5.17) – PHP 2,000.00 ( SGD$ 44.45, US$ 40, € 33.33) for Slow Boats and PHP 580.00 ( SGD$ 12.89, US$ 11.6, € 9.67) for Fast Boats/Crafts.   • Then walk to Baybay Transportation Terminal.
  • At the Terminal, ride a VAN/BUS to Ormoc City Terminal. Fare is about PHP 200.00 ( SGD$ 4.45, US$ 4.0, € 3.33)
  • At Ormoc City Terminal, walk towards Ormoc Public Market/2go Express ticketing.
  • Then, ride a tricycle going to PUNTA PORT. Be sure to inform the driver that you will hop off at PUNTA PORT for Camotes. Fare is PHP 10.00 – PHP 20.00. Travel time is about 8 minutes.

– Cebu Port: Pier 1, Cebu City
– Camotes Port: Poro, Camotes
– Advantages: Take this option if you want to arrive faster, and you live/stay near Pier 1 or SM City Cebu or you’re from Southern Cebu.

OPTION 5 (BY BOAT) (JOMALIA FAST CRAFT)

Entry Point is in MACTAN WHARF of Island Central Mactan Mall

– Travel Time: 1 hour and 15 minutes
– Cebu Port: MACTAN WHARF of Island Central Mactan Mall
– Camotes Port: Consuelo, Camotes
– Advantages: Take this option if you want to arrive faster, and you live/stay near Mactan.

OPTION 6 (BY BOAT & PRIVATE CAR/VEHICLE) (JOMALIA RORO/EXPRESS)

Entry Point is in DANAO CITY PORT

– Travel Time: 2 hours
– Cebu Port: Danao City Port
– Camotes Port: Consuelo, Camotes
– Advantages: Take this option if you want to save 50% on transportation, if you’re willing to travel or you’re from/near Danao City.
-This roro can take your car to Camotes.

1. MUST-VISIT AMAZING ISLAND CAVE

  • Description: Amazing Island Cave is located in Poro, Camotes Islands. Approximately 3 mins from the Consuelo Wharf and 550 meters far from it. This is one of the 8 known caves that I have visited here in Camotes. Inside the cave, there is an amazing small island in the midst of all rolling waters. It is very serene and a good place for relaxation only when it is low tide.
  • Location: San Francisco, Camotes, Cebu
  • Entrance Fee: PHP 100.00 – ENTRANCE FEE (adult), PHP 75.00 – ENTRANCE FEE (senior), PHP 60.00 – ENTRANCE FEE (children)

2. HEAVEN CAVE IN UNDERGROUND

Heaven Cave Camotes
  • Description: Approximately 17 mins from the Consuelo Wharf and 4.6 kilometers far from it. This is one of the 8 known caves that I have visited here in Camotes. Just like the other cave, you will descend a couple of stairs to actually swim in the cave.
  • Location: San Francisco, Camotes, Cebu
  • Entrance Fee: PHP 60.00
  • Operating Time: 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM Daily

3. TIMUBO CAVE: WHERE AN IMAGE OF MAMA MARY IS FOUND

Timubo Cave Camotes Mama Mary
  • Description: Before entering the mouth of the cave, some souvenir and food stalls will welcome you. You can buy your pasalubongs here.Upon entering the cave, you will spot a round-iron handrails that will guide you as you descend through the dimly lighted path. The concrete steps from the entrance are fairly done down to the bottom level of the inner cave. Inside you can see smaller versions of stalactites and stalagmites.

4. BUKILAT CAVE: THE LARGEST CAVE IN CAMOTES

Bukilat Cave Camotes Entrance
  • Description: The Camotes Island group actually has eight natural caves. But, Bukilat Cave is the most prominent among these caves. The cave has seven openings with the middle one big enough to allow light to enter the cave.
  • Location: Tudela, Camotes, Cebu
  • Entrance Fee: PHP 20.00
  • Operating Time: 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM Daily
  • Tips: Sometimes, they close before 5 pm since they only have natural light as the source of light inside the cave.

5. Paraiso Cave

  • Description: A 5-foot deep natural freshwater pool about a size of a badminton court awaits its visitor.
  • Location: San Francisco, Camotes, Cebu
  • Entrance Fee: PHP 25.00
  • Operating Time: 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM Daily
