FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
What’s in Sto. Nino Shrine and Heritage Museum?
At first, you’ll see this is just an ordinary shrine – full of religious articles, but no, this is actually the home of the Romualdez.
The 2-story structure is under the requisition of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) since 1986. Β The property was one of the 20 presidential rest houses that were built by the late former President Ferdinand Marcos for his wife Imelda Romualdez Marcos, a Taclobanon.
In 1979, a religious landmark was built in honor of the Holy Child. The shrine highlights the Sto. NiΓ±o image, the patron of Tacloban City. It serves as a chapel and museum at the same time a guest house with 21 bedrooms. Each room has its own unique motif showcasing Filipino artistry and creativeness with a blend of Asian and European fixtures.
There are a few prized possessions in this Museum like century-old mirrors from Austria, Australia, and other countries as gifts from different royalties and famous people. There are also quite a number of Ivory carvings, gold statues, silver chairs, and a ton of beautiful chandeliers and of course mirrors.
We saw the rooms of the family and I must say, they made quite a good job of preserving this.

Tips for Public Transports
Public transport consists of local buses, jeepneys, and tricycle motorcycles.
a). The local bus (Minibus) services are not a reliable transport service as they run from the city to their destination when they have a full or very near full bus load and return to the city under the same condition.
b). Jeepneys are reliable as they keep running their routes allowing you to hop on or off as required for a very economical cost. Jeepneys allow for a good view and conversations with locals to further your local experiences.
c). Tricycle motorcycles are the most reliable as you hire them for the journey. Most tricycle motorcycle drivers are very knowledgeable and willing to share local knowledge and advice and are also very eager to answer your questions and personally ensure you are well looked after.
Finally, most hotels have arrangements with local tour providers and can arrange multi-destination local tours at a moderate cost.
