Celebrating 6 Years of Shellwanders: A Finalist for “Best Cebu Travel Blog”
As December approaches, Shellwanders is gearing up to mark its 6th year of existence. This milestone is made even more special by the fact that we’ve been chosen as one of the finalists for the “Best Cebu Travel Blog” category at BCBA 2023. It’s an immense honor to have made it to the top three this year, and I’m truly grateful for this recognition.

Greetings, everyone! I’m Shelley Villarin aka shellwanders, your tech-savvy wanderer. I’ve always dreamt of sharing my travel escapades with the world, and now, I’ve transformed that dream into a reality with shellwanders.com.
My journey as a traveler began in my childhood, with Bohol, Philippines, being the destination of my very first adventure. The freedom and thrill of traveling fill me with sheer joy and a profound sense of contentment. This familiar haven has ignited my fervor for sharing my travel experiences. My blogging voyage commenced six years ago after a memorable excursion to Palawan with my co-workers. The passion for writing was calling me, and I responded with zeal.
Embarking on this journey was a challenge, as I had no formal training in writing or blog creation. My knowledge of computer programming was quite limited, as it wasn’t my area of expertise. Setting up a blog seemed like a daunting task, and I found myself reaching out to numerous bloggers, only to receive varying responses. Countless late nights were dedicated to seeking guidance on the internet.
Fortuitously, my quest led me to a blog that offered a comprehensive guide on blog creation. That’s how, in December, shellwanders came to life.
I still vividly recall my initial blog post, which took a whole week to write and format. It was an arduous task, but over time, I’ve become more efficient. The journey has flown by rapidly.
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Cebu Blogging Society Family for their unwavering support, which has significantly boosted my online visibility. Their invitations to various events and the sense of community have brought out the best in me.
Additionally, I’d like to express my appreciation to those who nominated my blog in the Travel Blog Category. Being recognized in this prestigious Best Cebu Blogs Awards Annual Event is truly an honor.
