How to Get to Divine Mercy Church

✓ OPTION 1 (BY VAN)

Entry Point is in ORMOC PORT.

CHECK FAST CRAFT SCHEDULE & FARE HERE

From the port, walk to Ormoc City Terminal near the Ormoc Public Market/2go Express ticketing.
Then, ride a VAN bound for Hilongos/Maasin. Be sure to inform the driver that you will hop off at Hilongos Public Market. Fare is PHP 110.00 – PHP 280.00 ( SGD$ 2.75 ,US$ 2.2, € 1.83) – ( SGD$ 7.00 ,US$ 5.6, € 4.67) . Travel time is about 2 hours and 40 minutes.
At the Market, ride a Pot2x or tricycle or motorcycle to Divine Mercy Church and inform them to wait for you. Fare is about PHP 200.00 one way ( SGD$ 5 ,US$ 4, € 3.33)

(HOMEBOUND)

Wait for any motorcycle or tricycle in the area or ride a habal-habal.
Note: You can arrange for your motorcycle driver to wait for you so that you won’t have a hard time going out of the area.

✓ OPTION 2 (BY BOAT)

Entry Point is in CEBU PIER 4.

CHECK FAST CRAFT SCHEDULE & FARE HERE

From Pier 4, ride the Slow Boats (Roble Shipping Lines or Gabisan Lines) & Fast Boat bound for Hilongos. Fare is about PHP 320.00 ( SGD$ 8.00, US$ 6.4, € 5.33) for Slow Boats and PHP 520.00 ( SGD$ 13, US$ 10.4, € 8.67) for Fast Boats/Crafts. Travel Time is about 5-6 hours for the slow boats and 2-3 hours for the fast boat.
At the Market, ride a Pot2x or tricycle or motorcycle to Divine Mercy Church and inform them to wait for you. Fare is about PHP 200.00 one way ( SGD$ 5 ,US$ 4, € 3.33)

✓ OPTION 3 (BY PRIVATE CAR/VEHICLE)

Entry Point is in ORMOC CITY.

Just use the “WAZE” or “GOOGLE MAP” app to navigate your way to Divine Mercy Church.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

There are two churches that are in the vicinity of the Monastery. The first one is the Adoration of Mama Mary Church. This can easily be seen because it is at the very entrance of the Monastery. On the other hand, the other church is a little bit tricky to be seen because it is located at the furthest end of the Monastery. You need to look up and find a big red-colored roof to locate this one or simply, ask the people around about the church; Divine Mercy Church.

1. When is the best time to visit the place?

Best time to visit is on weekdays to avoid crowd.

2. What should I wear in Divine Mercy Church?

There is no implemented outfit but for references you can do the following:

For women, the hem of your dress or skirt must be lower than your knee. Women in sleeveless dress ,sleeveless blouses and super short shorts are not allowed inside the complex. If you insist on wearing sleeveless shirts or mini shorts, bring a scarf to cover your shoulders and legs.

For men, you must wear pants or jeans and a decent shirt.

3. Can I bring food inside the church?

Yes, you can.

4. Can I wear slippers or sandals?

Yes for male and female.

5. Are there any available parking space for my car?

Yes and it is free.

Why You Should Visit this Place?

✓ RELIGIOUS PLACE

The same as the Adoration Monastery of Mama Mary, the Divine Mercy Church is located in Brgy. Marangog, Hilongos, Leyte, Philippines. It is situated east of the town proper of Hilongos.

The road to Adoration Monastery is not cemented but can easily accessible by any kind of vehicle. It is approximately 12 kilometers away from Hilongos Public Market.

You need not worry yourself in getting to the church itself as steps are properly formed and concreted. There are plenty of angel statues that will greet you as you ascend to the church.

I also witnessed an eagle flying in the sky and it was a very amazing moment for me. So, don’t forget to look up at the sky, inhale everything and exhale all at once.

Just a few meters from the main chapel is a Marian Garden, a grassy open space that features a grotto with a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes and Saint Bernadette Soubirous.

You can spot it in going to the Divine Mercy Church but unfortunately, I did not see it. We did not get a chance to witness the Marian Garden because we were so focused in going to the Blessed Sacrament as this will close at around 11:30am and will be opened at around 1:00pm.

I will update this one, once I see the garden.

✓ CULTURE

The picture above is at the very top of the place which is the Divine Mercy. You can witness a vast amount of coconut trees and a lush of greens. You can inhale a full set of fresh air just cause it is sorrounded by trees and plants which gives off oxygen.

The road going to the church is properly built so you won’t have a hard time going up there but it takes a lot of strength and faith in going up there.

You can also do your holy week’s station of the cross as they have the stations built from the foot of the Church going uphill.

The Divine Mercy Chuch’s interior is very chic and has a lot of bright-colored colors – pink, red and blue, to name a few. It is very refreshing to the eyes.

You can also write your petitions here and drop it at the dropping box located at the foot of the Divine Mercy.
