FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
What’s in LP Organic Farm?
LP Organic Farm is located in Ormoc City – Merida – Isabel – Palompon Road, Brgy. Benabaye, Merida, 6540 Leyte. It is a farm that offers relaxation, good food and is an institution accredited by TESDA that offers technical and vocational education and training courses.
The place is just located beside the national highway so it is very accessible to anyone. It is approximately 39 kilometers away from Ormoc.
The other half of the owner of the farm, Andreas Pettersson came here to the Philippines around the year 2008 and he was into backyard planting such as tomatoes. He bought the area in around 2010.
LP Organic Farm first stands as Laila Pettersson Organic Farm but later on, the owner realizes that it doesn’t stand with what they believe in. It does not tell a story. They want people to come here and experience what God’s creation is (alive and organic) and that it is a source of living for people. So they later changed it to Living Paradise Organic Farm.
The original idea for the farm was about food security for the poor people of the Philippines. When he got in contact with someone in Southern Mindanao, they have something that’s called the baptist rural center. They have a gardening technique that will actually feed around 5-6 people just by growing food in the backyard it is called Food Always In The Home Faith Garden. That’s where he got his encouragement to build LP Organic Farm.
The owner toured us on their big farm and it was a great experience to witness. They have goats, chickens, rooster, pig, vegetable, fruits and they make organic products that will surely be worth it for health-conscious people just like me.
Livestock (Goats)
They have a total of 60 goats in the farm.
The female has another cage, the ready-to-be-milked goats are housed in another space, the males are housed in another space as well. It is pretty organized and thoroughly cleaned.
I got to see and hold them up close but did not have the courage to hold them like a baby because I was afraid. Ugh, maybe next time I will hold one.
Livestock (Chicks)
They have a lot of chicks and are housed in that manner. My friend here got to hold a chick. They were pretty heavy nevertheless, it was fun watching my friend catching one and holding it for about 10 seconds so that I can get a good shot of her holding it.
I wanted to try it myself but my fear got a hold of me. Maybe next time though.
Fruits and Vegetables
They have a lot of fruits and vegetables. Among others are mango, miracle fruit, lime, kiat-kiat. They also planted a variety of chili that is so spicy; Yellow Carolina Reaper. It was really spicy and just a little drop will make your tears fall.
I was also amazed that they have planted my favorite fruit – Passion Fruit. That fruit is so seasonal that I only got to eat it during summer.
Handmade Soap
They have a liquid and solid form of soap. The one that you can see in the picture above is the liquid form. I was taken aback by its name because it is so witty.
The solid handmade soap on the other hand has a good smell. I must say that they really know how to make and craft because their soaps have a lot of shapes. Some are charcoal-activated and hypo-allergenic.
