Entry Point is in ORMOC PORT.

  • From the port, walk to Ormoc City Terminal.

What are the Historical Sites in Ormoc?

Historical Sites in Ormoc are located in the heart of the City itself. The sites are a few meters away from each other and can be completed in just a few hours.

1. Puente de la Riena

Puente de la Reina the “Bridge of the Queen” is considered as the last existing physical structure that symbolizes the Spanish colonization in the City.

Known as the oldest bridge, its cobblestones are still intact, relics of an age long gone. It was built in the early 1800’s but was completed in 1861. During the Spanish era, the bridge served as a docking area for sailboats, vintas of Chinese, Javans, and Indonesians who frequented the island to sell their products.

The bridge is still in use today. It is situated near the old twin buildings of the Executive and Legislative branches of the city and beside the old Ormoc City Hall which has been converted into a museum.

2. Veteran’s and Centennial Park

Veteran’s and Centennial Park is a park located near Ormoc’s sea wall and is a memorial to the veterans who fought during the liberation of Leyte and the Philippines.

3. Philippine-Japan Peace Memorial

One of the bloodiest encounters of World War II occurred in Ormoc during the Japanese occupation. It is situated in one of the city’s picturesque hills overlooking Ormoc Bay, Carlota Hills in Brgy. Can-adieng.

4. Ruins of Cong. Dominador Tan Residence

Ruins of Cong. Dominador Tan Residence

The Tan Mansion Ruins was built during the 1930s. It was one of the most beautiful sceneries in Ormoc at that time which was completed a year before World War II. In World War II, the mansion became a Japanese garrison in Leyte.

Its ruins serve as a symbolic structure of Ormocanons indulgence in World War II.
