Actually Bacalla Woods Campsite was not in our list of plans to wander to but after some weeks of conversation, a coffee date (Bicester Cafe) and chats with my friends, we have decided to explore the Campsite.

BACALLA WOODS CAMPSITE
Bacalla Woods Campsite is like a hangout junction of the residents and an escape to the city. Bacalla is the surname of the family who owns the campsite. They did not realize that it will be like a tourist attraction. But for me, the highlight for this venue is the serene and tranquil vibe you get when camping and swinging.
As you can see above ,what I meant is the picture, that is the entrance to the famous swing and the rest house of the Bacalla family.
2nd pic – From left to right, me (ofcourse!LOL) ,sharmaine, jeff and bret. My treasured friends that accompanied me throughout the stay.
3rd pic- From left to right ,John, Claire, Rezel, Marlon, Joyce and us from the first pic.
We arrived around 3:20 in the afternoon. So what we did is meet the owner, confirm our pre-registered name and wrote our names on their book. After that ,we searched a nice spot to put our reserved tents for 4 persons but we ended up on using their hammocks instead because their tents were kinda wet due to the rainy weather.

We did not sleep in a tent but we stayed in a tent during night time to play some games with our friends. We played the game titled “UNO CARDS”. We did eat in a boodle fight way.We attempted to make some bonfire on our area but for a while the wood lit up and then it was out. The wood was not enough and The music of other campers can be heard so take note of that too. That first pic though was the bonfire made by our co-camper. They did that near the skateboarding area.
Disconnecting is totally real. There is no signal and a limited amount of electricity is present. You can really connect with your friends and love ones. Sadly, I did not capture some good photos during it but I really had a fun time with them. Camping is fun when you have good friends with you. It was very good and awesome. There is always a first time in everything, huh?!. A very great experience for me. Also, another firsthand first time experience where I totally camp.
The hammock that I was saying. This is located inside the house with the swing or the rest house (for me,haha!) Actually, you can put the hammock anywhere in Bacalla Woods Campsite as long as there are trees or any vertical post that you can tie the hammocks.
Me and my friends decided to sleep there because of the sunrise that will shine on us early in the morning plus the swing was near it so we could easily swing. We could also snap some good photos of us and other people. Just look at our photo, is it breathtaking? How much more if you are in the moment with the people you treasure. Magnificent, right?
Take note that the swing, my friends, is very serene but I tell you, it is not for the weak of hearts. My slippers fell so if you can avoid using slippers, avoid! and by the way you can also use their guitar and ukelele. This calls for a JAM SESSION. Wohoo!
They do have a shop. “Kadaiya” is the name of it. They have actual pearls and souvenirs if you want one. Do not also worry if you do not have a shirt because they have one.
See below photo for reference.
ACTIVITIES
STARGAZING
At night the area is so dark that you need a flashlight to see the earth that you were stepping into. The magnificent pitch black sky will welcome you and stars will shine bright like a diamond. This is best for someone who loves to gaze at the star.
TREKKING TO BUGHO FALLS
This is a side trip. Bacalla’s offer a trip to this fall during daytime. Just ask the owner there. Note that this tour is not free.

HAMMOCKING
Experience this new trend. Well, it is not new to some but for me, it is. This is where you cling your hammock to any solid vertical structure.
CAMPING
2nd main highlight of the area.
SKATEBOARDING
They do have this skating area. During my visit, skating was not allowed due to downpour.
SWINGING
I can say that this is the main highlight of their area because I was enticed to visit this place due to it. They say that it was like Bali,Indonesia. I do not know if it feels like it but someday I will travel to Bali and compare this experience of mine.
Also, the seat of the swing is a skateboard without wheels.
CHIT-CHAT WITH THE FRIENDLY CAMPERS
Who would not like to chat with fellow campers? Not me though. Also, the owners are very friendly. They would perform some music or a little jam session most probably at night.
HAVE A LITTLE SIDE TRIP TO THEIR CHURCH
A little church can be find nearby. Try to visit it if you like to.

Hello, thanks for sharing this! We’re planing to stay at Bacalla by February 2020, Too much early and far from reality isn’t? haha! But your blog is helpful as i prepare my itinerary. By the way, I’m wondering if it’s gonna be hard to travel from Bacalla woods going to Oslob? Is there any bus terminal near san fernando?
shellwanders
hmmm. I am so happy that my blog has been helpful. Also, It will be hard to travel to Bacalla to Oslob if it’s peak season or rush hour because for sure bus will be full but if it’s not a peak season then you’re good to go. There is no bus terminal in san fernando. You will just wait at their waiting shed or beside the road.
