How to Get to Visayas State University
β OPTION 1 (BY TRICYCLE)
Entry Point is in ORMOC PORT.
CHECK FAST CRAFT SCHEDULE & FARE HERE
- From the port, walk to Ormoc City Terminal near the Ormoc Public Market/2go Express ticketing.
- Then, ride a VAN or MetroBus bound for Baybay. Be sure to inform the driver that you will hop off at the Visca (VSU’s former college name). Fare for Van is PHP 120.00 ( SGD$ 3.00, US$ 2.67, β¬ 2.4). The fare for MetroBus is PHP 85.00 ( SGD$ 2.13, US$ 1.89, β¬ 1.42). Travel time is about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

- Wait for a bus/van in the area as this place is located on the highway.
- You can arrange a motorcycle ride to wait for you.
β OPTION 2 (BY BOAT W/ BUS/VAN)
Entry Point is in CEBU PIER 4 via HILONGOS
CHECK FAST CRAFT SCHEDULE & FARE HERE
- From Pier 4, ride the Slow Boats (Roble Shipping Lines or Gabisan Lines) & Fast Boat (MV Superjoy) bound for Hilongos. Fare is about PHP 310.00 ( SGD$ 6.89, US$ 6.2, β¬ 5.17) – PHP 2,000.00 ( SGD$ 44.45, US$ 40, β¬ 33.33) for Slow Boats and PHP 550.00 ( SGD$ 12.23, US$ 11, β¬ 9.17) for Fast Boats/Crafts. Travel Time is about 5-6 hours for the slow boats and 2-3 hours for the fast boat.
- Then walk or ride a motorcycle to Hilongos Public Terminal.
- At the Market, ride a bus/van to Ormoc. Travel Time is about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Fare is PHP 200.00 – PHP 350.00 ( SGD$ 5.00 ,US$ 4.0, β¬ 3.33) – ( SGD$ 8.75 ,US$ 7.0, β¬ 5.83).
- Be sure to inform the driver that you will hop off at the Visca (VSU’s former college name).

β OPTION 3 (BY BOAT W/ BUS/VAN)
Entry Point is in CEBU PIER 4 via BAYBAY.

- From Pier 4, ride the Slow Boats (RORO Ferries) & Fast Boat (MV Superjoy) bound for Hilongos. Fare is about PHP 310.00 ( SGD$ 6.89, US$ 6.2, β¬ 5.17) – PHP 2,000.00 ( SGD$ 44.45, US$ 40, β¬ 33.33) for Slow Boats and PHP 580.00 ( SGD$ 12.89, US$ 11.6, β¬ 9.67) for Fast Boats/Crafts. - Then walk to Baybay Transportation Terminal.
- At the terminal, ride a VAN/BUS bound for Ormoc or ride a motorcycle or tricycle and. Fare is PHP 200.00 – PHP 350.00 ( SGD$ 5.00 ,US$ 4.0, β¬ 3.33) – ( SGD$ 8.75 ,US$ 7.0, β¬ 5.83) . Travel time is about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

β OPTION 6 (BY AIRPLANE & BUS/VAN) (From Cebu or Manila)
- There are actually daily flights from Manila to Tacloban and Cebu to Tacloban. The flight takes at least an hour and twenty (20) minutes if your entry point is Manila. Air travel takes about forty-five (45) minutes or less if your entry point is Cebu.
- After arriving at Tacloban Domestic Airport (San Jose, Tacloban City), go to Tacloban City Bus Terminal via taxicab or transfer service.
- From Tacloban City Bus Terminal, one can easily go to the Ormoc by taking a two-hour bus or van ride bound for Baybay. Ask to be dropped at Van-Van’s or Duptours terminal for a van for Baybay.
- At the terminal, Hop on a Van-van’s or Duptours van en route to Maasin City, Southern Leyte via Baybay city. The van fare is P150 and the trip usually takes about two hours.

What’s in Visayas State University?

This 3,770-ft. tall mountain range welcomes you to witness the breaking dawn. A perfect sight to start your day on campus.

3. Chill and Swim at Beach Resort
Yes, VSU has its own resort inside the campus. It is considered a resort university after all. You can beat the heat with the cool waters sourced from the Pangasugan River. If you think that the pool is just too small for you, feel free to take a dip in the vast Camotes Sea.
4. Visit the Animal Sanctuaries
Say hello to their animal friends. VSU has animal sanctuaries you can always visit. In fact, the campus looks like one big sanctuary in itself where terrestrial and marine fishes co-exist with them harmoniously.
5. Don’t forget to Take Pictures of the Twin Towers
One of VSU’s most significant features, the twin towers known as the Obelisk stands as a symbol of the university’s academic mission and commitment to rural development. The “god of the sun” is shown on the obelisk in the south, which stands for agriculture and related fields. The “god of lightning and thunder” on the other side stands in for technology and innovation in all of its endeavors.
6. Buy Some Native Delicacy
You don’t need to visit City Proper as VSU has a dedicated shop for buying native delicacies.
